Bodies, the Exhibit

On Tuesday afternoon my friend Marilyn and I went to see the Bodies Exhibit at Atlantic Station in Atlanta. It was very interesting.  I was able to remove the fact that these were actual human bodies and look at them from a medical and artistic perspective.  The human body is truly remarkable.  Although the exhibit was cool, I am glad we got in free on a "Teacher Tuesday" as I thought $24 was a bit expensive for the short exhibit.
This was also my first trip to Atlantic Station, which was also a really neat place.

Thanksgiving in pictures

The following pictures are in total random order.  Just when I think I have the system to blogger figured out, I forget it.

The house is all decorated for Santa and the reindeer.
Steve and I went to the lighting of the Macys great tree at Lenox.  This was our 4th year in attendance.  Steve is convinced this is the "official" kick-off to the holiday season.  If you have never been this is really a wonderful *free* event.
Fireworks after the tree lighting.

Our live tree in the kitchen.  Why not have a tree in the kitchen?  We spend most of our time there so it only made sense.

Now I remember why I only really decorate over two years... It is a time consuming pain...but it looks pretty when you are done.
Tree in the corner of the dining room.
The Great tree before the lighting.
Kelly waiting for the entertainment to begin.
Our view of the stage.
The tree is lit.

And the fireworks begin!
My parents had both of the families over to the barn for an official
White House
Thanksgiving Dinner

We had almost 25 folks.
What are we most Thankful for - FAMILY!

Cameron says I wish I could have something to eat besides silly milk. Everything smells so yummy.
Barn Lunch

Where did all the turkey go?
Steve holding our balloons & coffee.

I baked pumpkin bread from scratch.  (out of the box, from a mix is scratch, right?)

While I was cleaning the floors on Wed. Fishy got locked outside.
Mommy, "I demand to be let inside right NOW!"

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree.
Our new "child" hung out on the porch the first night we got it.

Steve and the guys frying the turkey.  Everyone said it was good, it must have been... no left-overs.

We also put lights on the house.  It was really amusing to see me crawling around on the roof.  Hopefully we will have pictures soon.

Such nice doggies, but what did it take to get the final pictures...

Sit Tut! I mean now!

No not roll over!
Three of the four, not too shabby!
Almost.
The senior dogs are behaving.

Note the finger in the corner telling him to stay!

These were the final Christmas card pictures (but in color). Tut got the single frame in the card, not because he is the best or favorite (well maybe he is...) but because he did not get in the other shot.

Being sick is the worst thing in the world

The only thing that makes you feel better is having your dog curl up beside you to sleep and watch Rudolph and Frosty.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving despite being sick and having icky weather.
We had hoped to fly to St. Simon's this weekend, but the weather was rainy and overcast most of the weekend.  Steve was also not feeling well due to the stomach virus he had on Tuesday.  So we thought staying home would be best.  Good thing we did because I have the virus Friday night and Saturday.  This virus kicked our butt.  We were both in bed an entire day and were so weak that we are still getting over it. It seems like everyone we know has it.  I think you can simply look at someone and get the virus.  Despite that sickness, we still made it to wonderful Thanksgiving dinners with both of our families, the lighting of the great tree, decorating the house for the holidays, online shopping (no crazy black Friday for me this year) and some much needed house cleaning.

YEAH STEVE!

Congratulations to Steve!
He passes his private pilots license test yesterday.  We went on our first solo flight together yesterday afternoon, after my class at Piedmont.  We hope to make more visit to the coast, since it should take about 3 hours to get there instead of 6 or 7 in the car.

Sushi

Hiiro, Dahlonega's newest sushi restaurant.  (Note these are not pictures of the actual restaurant.) Steve and I have been frequent visiters of the sushi bar in the past few weeks. It is truly some of the best sushi we have found.  When we are not in Dahlonega we prefer to eat sushi at Shogun.

Adventures in ATL

In addition to finishing my last class until after the new year, Steve and I have had several adventures in Atlanta in recent weeks.  We saw both the King Tut exhibit at the Civic Center  and the Emperors exhibit at the High.
We stopped at Pappadeaux for dinner.  They are having a special of $4 a dozen oysters this month.  That make Steve very happy!
We stopped by Oakland Cemetery.
