Memorial Day Weekend

So what do we do when gas prices are so high that I get excited when I find gas for $3.82 per gallon?  We spend the weekend camping and eating at the river, in God's country, Frogtown.
Details will follow as the weekend progresses...

SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER!

Today was the last day of school for students.  I still have to return to work next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays.  I have a two week break before starting Piedmont on June 17 (?).  Steve and I are hoping to find a short vacation before I begin college.

Before school, wearing my official "last day of school tiara."
Not to be confused with the unofficial tiara.

This is me blogging after the longest day of the school year... Is it time for bed yet?

And for all you wondering folks, school starts for teachers on August 1, 2008!

Jumbling Tower

We broke out the jumbling towers the other night after dinner.  We have not played with them in year and of course... I won!

Blackberry Winter

Iris's that I transplanted a few years ago.

I love close up of flowers.  How O'Keeffish...

Our favorite cousin dog "Lacey" went to the groomers on Saturday. After she returned home, I took her on a Jeep ride to the River for a Mothers Day cookout.

Isn't she so pretty
More blackberryies in bloom.  It have certainly been a chilly week.
I have not been going topless in the Jeep this week.

The blackberries will be yummy this summer...
Steve completed his last cross country solo flight required for his pilot lic. on Tuesday.  He flew from Habersham to Greenwood, SC to Athens, made a "fly by our house" then returned to Habersham airport.

Lets play where is our house..it is the white speck in the upper corner of the open area, just below both lakes.  The large slightly curved road is highway 52E.

Pilot Steve, in charge...

The plane controlls

Athens airport
If you look really close you can see the large GA "G" on the tower.

This weekend in review

When riding in the Jeep (and in the plane, in the future) Fishy wears her harness that connects to the seat belts.  To ensure she does not unbuckle herself (as she did several times on the way to FL) I criss-cross the belts and double latch her.  These photos are from weird angles, but hopefully you can get the picture.

Yesterday Steve and I completed our mothers day shopping.  Our journey took us to many different places, but we will tell you about the places that we did not purchase mothers day gifts at.  We ate at Crackle Barrel in Commerce...yummy. We then went to REI and the Mall of GA.  We returned home via Gainesville.  Steve was looking for a Cuban espresso maker so we went to several of the Hispanic Grocery stores but with no luck.   Anyways, the store in the former wal-mart shopping center in Gainesville, DeRay Grocery, is always so neat and clean.
Every time we go in there we feel like we are stepping onto a movie set.
