I get to be a college student again ... do I get the discounts?

I just received my acceptance letter from Piedmont College for the Education Specialist program.  The program will take just over a year to complete.  I will begin this summer and finish next summer.  Classes are conducted approximately three days a week during the summer and 2-3 Saturdays a month during the school year.
The program will focus on teaching and curriculum and of course after I pay my student loans off will give me a significant pay raise, and of course make me a better teacher.  I have been pondering some sort of 6th year program for a while and have finally accepted the fact that I just have to take the plunge and do it, because it will not happen by itself.
On an more relaxing note, I have booked the hotel and airfare for our trip to the keys this summer (after summer classes are finished, but before school begins of course).  We will be fishing/boating/lobstering with our friends from Fl and have Fishy mother.  At least i will have something to look forward to besides classes this summer.

A three day weekend

This weekend is a three day weekend.  Friday was a weather makeup day that we did not have to use for snow, so we got to use it for sun.

Thursday evening we hung out, in Dahlonega, with our friends Tina and Cary at the "Moon."
Their good friends Tom and Julie preform there several nights a week, so we enjoyed the music and had a large mocha (yummmmy)

Steve and I spend Friday afternoon with the Tardonias (Fishy biological paternal family).  I was a bit rushed so we had to make our homemade ice cream to go.  The photo is not really good, but the ice cream maker is plugged into the lighter charger in the Jeep.

Ted's brother Frank and his son little Frankie (aka Chicken Head) are up for the weekend.  Little Frankie is without a doubt one of the cuties 4 year old kids around.

We went fishing for some of the largest beam in the work.  I needed a  little help reeling in and taking off my fish, Frankie was always there to help.

And I have been going topless or at least partially topless for a few weeks now.

Sunday -
Today we hosted a "River Party."  A very low key family thing.  Well it was so low key in fact that Steve and I had to party alone, no one else came, but the rain.  The rest of the family thought we would have canceled due to the rain but...

We were still there!

No wait.  After we were all cleaned up and ready to go... they came..We were not alone after all and we feel loved.  I think everyone was afraid they would melt.

See I knew they would not let us down!

Happy Earth Day!

I just love "Earth Week."  I get to wear my Life is Good shirts to school everyday this week.
My new little way to help the earth is by trying to use natural cleaners like borax, vinegar and baking soda.

My weekend ... Trough Gardens and Raku

At our Beta Sigma Phi meeting Saturday we made trough garden containers.  I planted cilantro, basil and flowers in mine.  Lets just hope I don't forget to water them.

As part of my continuing education pottery class we had a raku party.

We also spend a few hours each day at the
It was such a wonderful weekend to be outside in the sun.

An Atlanta day trip

We had lunch at The Varsity
in ATL.  It has been a while since we had been to the original Varsity.  Yes it was yummy as well as unhealthy!

Sixfeet Under Cafe near Oakland Cemetery
In addition to oysters, we also had rat toes (check out the menu) and hot shrimp.  Another item we did not try but thought was very interesting was cucumber wasabi dressing.

We wanted to tour Oakland Cemetery
but, we could only walk outside the wall due to the recent tornadoes in the area.  We peeked at some areas and it was amazing and sad to see such large trees down.  We are certainly going back for the tour when they are open again.
After our long walk we stopped by Sixfeet Under for some great seafood.  We will be going back there again as well and highly recommend it if you are in the area (it is near the Grant Park - Zoo ATL area)

We also made a visit to the The High Museum for the O'Keeffe exhibit.  I had seen it once earlier, but it was worth a second trip.

We did a brief stop by IKEA.  It was the first trip for us both.  I thought it was really cool, but Steve was unimpressed.  Don't worry, I will go again with out him!

Random stuff...

My new Jeep stereo.  Me who has never cared about the quality of music...what will happen next?  But I must say it is the best $100 I have ever spend for tunes with the top down.
Check out the jump drive that is in the USB port.

I finished making Nana's rag quilt.  This will be a late birthday present.

"Roses" also known as tulips that Steve gave me several years ago for Valentines.
